Spooky Season Photo Sessions in Newark, Ohio | Halloween Photos with a Twist

Over the past few years, I’ve gotten to photograph some of the most fun Halloween sessions—from Ghostface hiding in the woods to pumpkin heads, witches, colorful sheet ghosts and plenty of wonderfully weird ideas in between.

And honestly? These sessions are always so much fun.

Halloween photos don’t have to be traditional

One of my favorite things about Spooky Season sessions is that there really aren’t any rules.

Want to show up in Halloween costumes? Absolutely.

Have an elaborate idea you’ve been dying to bring to life? Even better.

Want something creepy and moody? We can do that.

Want something completely ridiculous that will have you laughing the entire session? PLEASE do. 😂

Some of my favorite sessions have started with someone saying, “Okay, I have this weird idea…”

Those are usually my favorite words to hear.

From creepy to completely unserious

Halloween gives us an excuse to create photos that are completely different from anything you would normally hang on the wall after a family session.

We can play with movement, dramatic light, little details and all the weird things that would make absolutely no sense during your normal October family photos.

And Halloween sessions definitely aren’t just for the kids. Bring the whole family! You can coordinate costumes, add a little spooky twist to your fall outfits, or go completely all in.

And yes… sometimes that means carving four pumpkins and wearing them on your heads. 😂

Some of my favorite Halloween sessions are the ones where everyone commits to the idea and just has fun with it. They don’t have to be picture-perfect or serious to still give you images that feel like your family.
